Mr. William Collins – Regional Director

New York Passport Agency

376 Hudson St

10th Floor

New York, NY 10014-4896

Dear Mr. Collins:

Local 1998 would like to request that we be permitted to use space within your office for representational training.  Mr. Jim Davis, of the National Federation of Federal Employees national staff, has agreed to do the training as well as assist in a one day membership drive within your office.

Mr. Davis has offered to make his services available to us on either October 3 and 4 or October 31 and November 1.  The membership drive would be the first day, with training to fall on the second day.  Additionally, we would like to include in that training representatives from other passport offices.  To maximize his training time, Mr. Davis has requested that he be allowed to include two additional union representatives from the Veteran’s Administration.  We may have up to 10 Local 1998 representatives (probably less), plus the two VA representatives.

I will be involved in contract negotiations in Washington, D.C., from September 18 through September 29.  I realize you are busy, but a prompt reply would be appreciated so that I can make arrangements with our other representatives before going to Washington.  Please feel free to respond by e-mail or discuss this with our New York Vice President, Vanessa Fields.

Thank you for working with us on this matter.

Sincerely,

Bill Beardall

President – NFFE Local 1998
